How we handle your information

Who we are

Work Covered designs websites, assistants and connected workflows for owner-led UK service businesses. For the purposes of UK data protection law, the data controller for this website is Work Covered.

What this website collects

Work Covered uses a self-hosted copy of Umami Analytics across these websites: workcovered.com, theDataGuy.uk (including its www hostname), riverside.workcovered.com, northstar.workcovered.com, nlt.workcovered.com and ccplumbers.workcovered.com. Each site has a separate analytics property. Umami records page views and related information, including page URL and title, referrer, browser, operating system, device type, screen dimensions, browser language and an anonymous session identifier. Its tracker does not set cookies. The visitor IP is used to derive location and is not stored as an analytics field. Cloudflare visitor-location headers provide country, region and city information.

Session replay and heatmaps are enabled on these sites. Each feature is sampled at 15%. Replays capture page navigation, mouse movement, clicks, scrolling and form interactions; moderate masking hides all input fields. A replay stops after five minutes and is stored for 30 days. Heatmaps show aggregate interaction patterns. Do not enter sensitive details into demonstration forms. On the NLT and CCPlumbers sites, starting a prerecorded audio example records an event with that example’s title and ID; the audio itself is not uploaded. The Work Covered homepage demonstration runs in your browser and does not send the information you enter, while its separate page-view analytics still applies.

If you use the contact form, we will receive the details you enter — your name, business, email address, telephone number if you give it, and your message — so that we can reply and arrange a working session.

How we use it

  • To reply to you and arrange or deliver a working session.
  • To keep a record of our correspondence while we are in contact.
  • To understand how visitors use the websites listed above and improve their content.

We do not sell personal information. We do not use it to train AI models. Where an AI assistant is used on a client project, its handling of customer data is agreed in writing with that client and is not covered by this page.

Who else sees it

Analytics data is stored in a separate PostgreSQL database on our Work Covered VPS. The Umami dashboard is restricted to the site owner. Cloudflare proxies requests to the analytics service and processes connection data to provide that service. Enquiries may be stored in the business systems we use to run Work Covered — for example an email service and a customer-relationship system. The list of enquiry providers, and where they store data, will be published here before launch. Providers act on our instructions under written terms.

How long we keep it

Standard Umami analytics records are kept until deleted by the site owner; no automatic deletion schedule is configured. Session replays are stored for 30 days. Retention periods for enquiry records are to be confirmed before launch. Our intention is to keep enquiry records only for as long as we are in contact, plus a reasonable period afterwards for accounting and legal reasons.

Your rights

You can ask to see the personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct or delete it, object to how we use it, or ask us to restrict its use. Contact details for these requests will be published here. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk).

AI-generated content

Some imagery and film on this website, including the homepage film, is AI-generated and is labelled as such where it appears. Work Covered's full wording on how AI-generated content is produced, labelled and used will be added here before launch. No personal information is used to generate it.

Demonstration sites

The demonstration sites linked from this website are fictional or concept builds. Their forms are labelled as demonstrations and are not intended to receive real personal details. Please do not enter real personal information into a demonstration.

Changes

We will update this page when our practices change and note the date of the latest revision here.
